Rabinowitz, Alexander Süsskind

   Palestinian Hebrew scholar, also known as Azar. He was born in Lyady, Belorussia. He taught in Poltava in the Ukraine, and became active in the Hibbat Zion movement. In 1906 he moved to Palestine, where he became a teacher and a librarian. He wrote stories, monographs, translations of world literature and Judaica into Hebrew, and textbooks.
